Berlin - Nairobi Global HEART Program

In 2021, the University of Nairobi (Department of Public & Global Health, and the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics) and Charité University Berlin established the Berlin - Nairobi Global HEART Program which combines health research, exchange, and training. The program runs for a duration of four years and aims to promote collaboration and exchange on global health research topics between the two universities. This project is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the DAAD PAGEL Program.

Supervisors from the Charite University student exchange program visited the Faculty of Health Sciences from 19-23 June 2023. One of the MPH students from the Department of Public & Global Health - Henry Shamwana, is currently in Germany. In exchange, one of the students from Charite University - Gabriella, is with us. During this visit, the team visited Kihara Sub-County Hospital to see how the Primary Health Care System is structured.
