On June 10th, 2024, students in the Master of Public Health program at the Department of Global and Public Health attended a talk by media specialists Dickson Migiro and Emmanuel Jambo. The session provided students a unique opportunity to interact with renowned media specialists who have worked extensively in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Students learned about the importance of ethics, the role of media in framing health problems, their drivers and solutions when working with various stakeholders.
For their final unit project, students are to apply their knowledge to create posters to advocate for a public health issue of their choice.
A focus on communication as part of the MPH offered at the University of Nairobi is essential for the communication and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
