Welcome to the Department of Public and Global Health, University of Nairobi website.
Established in 2010, the Department conducts research into population health with the aim of preventing disease and protecting and promoting the health and well-being of communities.
The Department is home to over 20 academic staff members undertaking public health research in various fields. These include clinical sciences, behavioral sciences, public health nutrition, health economics and policy development, health systems management, environmental and occupational health, demography and population studies, epidemiology, and biostatistics.
We offer undergraduate medical student (MBChB) training in Community Health courses through a clerkship in Community Health. We also provide postgraduate Master's and Ph.D. programs that offer supervision and specialist training that will prepare you for a public health career in settings such as government, research, and health services. Through these programs, you will gain core skills and knowledge, supervision, and a chance to work with specialists in diverse thematic areas. This program is suitable for students from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds.
