Visit from a team from North Eastern University, Boston

The Department of Public and Global Health received a Team from Northeastern University, Boston - Justin Repici (Academic Affairs), Brittany Harris (Global experience office), Khushal H. Safi (Global Security Office), and Prof. Richard Wamai, visiting professor in the Department under Emeritus Prof. Joseph Wangombe. The team, accompanied by Chair, Dr. Rose Opiyo and Dr. George Agot paid a courtesy call to the Dean of the Faculty of Health Science, Prof. George Osanjo.

"Go, See, Learn and Change" This was the parting shot by Prof.Wamai Carnelian African
Diaspora Fellow from Northeastern University, Boston, USA during his seminar on collaborative global health.


As a health system expert, Prof. Wamai had a loaded presentation on a life of work and
passion in collaborative global health. He highlighted dimensions of global health including security and finance as an approach to this very important branch of health care.

APHRC @20 Symposium

Dr. Rose Okoyo Opiyo attended APHRC @20 Symposium during the "APHRC @20 Grand Finale Celebrations and the Evidence to Policy Impact" on 23-24 May 2025. Dr. Opiyo is one of the beneficiaries of APHRC's programs as a CARTA PhD Fellowship Graduate. She was one of the panelists during the symposium where she shared her experience/testimony on the journey as a CARTA Fellow.

Medical Students' Community Health Rotation

The Department of Public and Global Health, in collaboration with sub-County Hospitals in Kiambu County conducted a Health Centre Practice exercise for the MBChB V students between Monday, May 8th, 2023, to Friday, June 2nd, 2023.

The sub-county hospitals include Wangige, Kihara, Gikambura, Lusigetti, and Ndeiya Sub-County Hospitals.

The Health Centre Practice exercise is an activity to educate the students and sensitize the community on Public Health issues of concern.
